Wellhart is seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position in Michigan. This exciting opportunity offers a 120-day assignment starting 04/19/2025, with various coverage periods extending through October 10, 2025. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing CABGs, open heart surgeries, and must be able to perform their own veins. The role involves a mix of inpatient (70%) and outpatient (30%) care, including visits, surgery call, and rounding. This position also offers a chance for extension.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform CABGs and open heart surgeries
• Conduct outpatient visits and manage inpatient care
• Provide 24/7 on-call coverage when on-site
• Collaborate with APPs who take first call for ICU, hospital floors, outpatients, and ED
• Utilize Athenahealth EMR system and Dragon dictation software
• Adapt to a dynamic work environment with varying schedules
• Maintain high standards of patient care and safety
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed to practice in Michigan
• Comfortable with performing own veins during surgical procedures
• Ability to manage both inpatient (70%) and outpatient (30%) care
• Flexibility to work across multiple coverage periods
