Job Description
Wellhart is seeking an experienced Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position at a multi-specialty clinic in Utah. This opportunity offers 60 days of coverage, starting from 06/02/2025, with specific dates in June, July, and September, and ongoing dates beginning in October 2025. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The gastroenterologist will perform 12-15 procedures per day, including EGDs, EVS, and general GI cases, in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The role also involves seeing 8-10 clinic patients daily, managing various gastrointestinal conditions. This position requires expertise in endoscopic procedures, patient care, and proficiency in using the Epic electronic health record system.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Perform 12-15 endoscopic procedures daily, including EGDs, EVS, and general GI cases
• Manage sedation with propofol under anesthesiologist supervision
• Conduct procedures in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• See 8-10 clinic patients daily for various GI conditions, including IBD, abdominal pain, and EOE
• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Adapt to working in multiple procedure rooms and managing efficient patient flow
• Provide post-procedure care and discharge instructions
• Stay current with the latest gastroenterology practices and techniques
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed
Additional Information:
• Must be licensed to practice in Utah
• Experience with Fujinon scopes preferred
• Flexibility to work with various bowel prep methods, including Miralax
• Ability to manage complex GI cases and provide appropriate follow-up care
• Potential for assignment extension beyond initial dates
