Job Description

We are seeking a skilled General Surgeon for an extended locum tenens position in California. This 278-day assignment starts on 06/16/2025, and involves weekday shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, plus on-call coverage throughout the week and weekends. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing comprehensive clinical General Surgery services, including a full range of approved procedures. The surgeon will be responsible for clinic and surgical duties, ensuring timely presence for scheduled appointments and procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work in a VA setting, providing high-quality surgical care to veterans.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, plus on-call coverage

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive clinical General Surgery services 

• Perform a full range of approved surgical procedures 

• Manage clinic appointments and surgical schedules 

• Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative care 

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes 

• Participate in on-call rotations for weeknights and weekends 

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using CPRS system 

• Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as required 

• Ensure timely presence for all scheduled appointments and procedures

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice medicine (any state license accepted) 

• Experience with CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System) preferred 

• Strong clinical and surgical skills in General Surgery 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team 

• Comfortable working in a VA healthcare setting 

• Possibility of assignment extension
