Job Description

Wellhart is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist for a locum tenens position in Maryland. This 12-day assignment begins on July 11, 2025, covering weekend call from 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Monday. The physician will provide inpatient coverage, including rounding and procedures, and be on call for interventional and invasive needs. With an estimated 20 STEMIs per month, the role requires expertise in managing acute cardiac emergencies. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a fast-paced environment, ready to handle a variety of cardiac interventions, and able to provide comprehensive care for cardiac patients.

Schedule: Weekend call coverage, 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Monday

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide inpatient coverage, including rounding and procedures
• Respond to interventional and invasive cardiac needs as on-call physician
• Manage acute cardiac emergencies, including STEMIs
• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations
• Conduct pre-procedure assessments and develop treatment plans
• Interpret cardiac imaging and diagnostic test results
• Collaborate with emergency department and other specialties for patient care
• Ensure proper documentation using Epic electronic medical record system
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Adhere to established protocols and best practices in interventional cardiology
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed
• Maintain readiness to respond to urgent cardiac situations at all times during call
• Stay current with advancements in interventional cardiology techniques and technologies

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Maryland
• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology required
• Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system preferred
• Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities essential
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work efficiently in high-stress, time-sensitive situations
• Willingness to provide comprehensive care during weekend call shifts
