We are seeking a skilled Anesthesiologist for a locum tenens position at a Trauma Hospital in Iowa. This opportunity offers 50 days of coverage spread across multiple weeks from June to December. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with CRNA students, managing cardiac cases, and adapting to a changing environment. The schedule varies, with work days typically running from early morning to mid-afternoon, and occasional extended hours for ongoing cases. This role requires flexibility, expertise in anesthesiology, and the ability to work in a solo practice setting while also collaborating with students and other healthcare professionals. 

Job Details: 

Location: Iowa 

Facility Type: Hospital (Trauma) 

Start Date: 06/09/2025 

LOA: Multiple weeks between June and December

Provider Type Needed: Anesthesiologist 

Schedule: M-W-F 6:30 am-3:00 pm; T-Th 7:00 am-3:30 pm (may extend for ongoing cases)

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide anesthesia services for a variety of surgical procedures, including cardiac cases 

• Work primarily in a solo practice setting 

• Supervise and guide CRNA students rotating through the operating room 

• Adapt to a changing environment in a program that has experienced recent provider turnover 

• Utilize Cerner and Powerchart EMR systems (transitioning to Epic in June) 

• Demonstrate flexibility in schedule and willingness to stay later if needed for non-cardiac or unfinished cardiac cases 

• Collaborate effectively with the cardiac surgery team and other healthcare professionals 

• Maintain high standards of patient care and safety

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice in Iowa 

• Experience with cardiac anesthesia preferred 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students and staff 

• Adaptability to work in a program that has faced challenges in recent years 

• Possibility of assignment extension
