Job Description

Wellhart is seeking an Anesthesiologist specializing in pediatric and neonatal care for a locum tenens position in Texas. This 120-day assignment begins on June 2, 2025, at a hospital setting. The physician will work 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7am-3pm), for a minimum of 3 weeks per month. Responsibilities include providing anesthesia care for pediatric and neonatal patients, with a focus on pediatric trauma and orthopedic cases. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with children of all ages, including neonates, and have experience in managing complex pediatric anesthesia cases.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Provide anesthesia care for pediatric and neonatal patients
  • Manage anesthesia for pediatric trauma cases
  • Administer anesthesia for pediatric orthopedic procedures
  • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and develop anesthesia care plans
  • Monitor vital signs and adjust anesthesia as necessary during procedures
  • Manage post-anesthesia care and recovery for pediatric patients
  • Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, trauma teams, and other specialists
  • Ensure proper documentation using Epic electronic medical record system
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Adhere to hospital protocols and best practices in pediatric anesthesiology
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed
  • Stay current with advancements in pediatric and neonatal anesthesia techniques


Additional Information:


  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in Texas
  • Board certification in Anesthesiology with fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology preferred
  • Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system required
  • Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities essential
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in working with children and their families
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations and manage complex pediatric cases
