Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery for a locum tenens position at a multi-specialty clinic in Maine with a start date of 04/28/2025. This assignment offers a flexible duration of 3-6 months, with a potential for extension. The schedule varies based on assignment: four 10-12 hour days per week if working in the OR, or three 12-13 hour shifts (including overnights) if assigned to the ICU. The role involves working in a high-volume cardiac surgery division, handling a wide range of cardiac procedures except for transplants. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and have experience in both OR and ICU settings.


Job Details: 

Location: Maine 

Facility Type: Multi-Specialty Clinic 

Start Date: 04/28/2025 

LOA: 3-6 months (with potential for extension) 

Provider Type Needed: Nurse Practitioner (Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery) 

Schedule: 4 days/week (OR) or 3 shifts/week (ICU), including overnights


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Assist in a variety of cardiac surgery procedures 

• Provide pre- and post-operative care to cardiac patients 

• Manage patient care in both OR and ICU settings 

• Collaborate with a team of surgeons and other healthcare professionals 

• Participate in on-call rotation (1 in 4 or 5 weeks) 

• Ensure high-quality patient care and safety 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records 

• Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures


Required Qualifications: 

• Current Nurse Practitioner license with Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery specialization 

• Active Maine state license 

• Experience in high-volume cardiac surgery settings 

• Comfort with both OR and ICU environments 

• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overnights
