 We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in Michigan. This 80-day assignment is spread across multiple periods starting 07/25/2025 with 24/7 call coverage when on-site. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing CABGs, bread and butter open heart surgery (including own vein harvesting), outpatient visits, inpatient rounding, and handling surgical call. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to provide essential cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care while enjoying the flexibility of a locum tenens assignment with potential for extension.

Schedule: Various periods, with 24/7 call when on-site

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform coronary artery bypass grafts (CABGs) and other open heart surgeries

• Conduct own vein harvesting for surgical procedures

• Provide outpatient consultations and follow-up care

• Handle surgical call responsibilities

• Perform inpatient rounding and manage post-operative care

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care

• Adapt to a mix of approximately 70% inpatient and 30% outpatient care

• Utilize Athenahealth EHR system and Dragon dictation software

• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members

• Supervise and work alongside Advanced Practice Providers who take first call

• Must be licensed to practice in Michigan

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment

• Strong surgical skills and experience in cardiovascular and thoracic procedures
