Wellhart is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens position at a multi-specialty clinic in North Dakota. This 42-day assignment is spread across multiple weekends and holidays from June to July 2025, with shifts running from 8 AM Friday to 8 AM Monday. The role involves managing both emergency department cases and inpatient rounds, handling a variety of conditions including abdominal pain, pneumonia, CHF, and COPD. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing up to 5 inpatients daily and addressing chronic comorbid conditions. This opportunity utilizes the Epic electronic health record system, offers a chance for extension, and requires an active North Dakota license.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide emergency medical care in the ED, addressing a wide range of acute conditions 

• Conduct daily rounds on up to 5 inpatients, managing conditions such as pneumonia, CHF, and COPD 

• Perform patient assessments, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans 

• Manage chronic comorbid conditions in both ED and inpatient settings 

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed 

• Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice 

• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care 

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using the Epic system 

• Adapt to varying patient volumes and acuity levels in both ED and inpatient settings 

• Provide patient and family education on health conditions and treatment plans 

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures

Additional Information: 

• Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner with Emergency Medicine experience 

• Active North Dakota license required 

• Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team 

• Strong clinical decision-making and time management skills 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Flexibility to work weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
