Job Description

Wellhart is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position in Georgia. This 109-day assignment begins on May 26, 2025, covering various shifts including 7a-5p, 11a-9p, 3p-1a, and 10p-8a. The physician will be responsible for providing comprehensive emergency care, including evaluation, treatment, and management of a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies. Duties include performing various procedures, stabilizing patients, coordinating transfers when necessary, and ensuring proper patient care and documentation. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with all aspects of emergency medicine, from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Various 10-hour shifts (7a-5p, 11a-9p, 3p-1a, 10p-8a)


Job Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Evaluate, treat, and manage patients with a wide range of emergency conditions
  • Perform various procedures including but not limited to wound care, laceration repair, incision and drainage, and orthopedic device application
  • Manage critical care situations such as resuscitation, stabilization, and triage
  • Conduct initial evaluations and provide emergent treatment for various medical specialties
  • Perform major procedures when safe and appropriate, such as central line placement, intubation, and chest tube insertion
  • Coordinate patient transfers when a higher level of care is required
  • Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions to patients
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians and other healthcare team members
  • Initiate appropriate social work referrals as needed
  • Adhere to all medication policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of test results
  • Participate in administrative duties as required (approximately 5% of time)


Additional Information:


  • Must be licensed to practice in any state
  • Proficient in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with a diverse range of emergency medical situations
