 Wellhart is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician for a locum tenens position at a Trauma teaching hospital in Iowa. This 36-day assignment, starting from 06/02/2025, offers flexible scheduling with 9- and 12-hour shifts to cover open FTE positions. Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide emergency medical care to patients of all ages and conditions

• Perform initial patient assessments and develop treatment plans

• Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies

• Perform emergency medical procedures as needed

• Collaborate with specialists and other healthcare professionals

• Manage multiple patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

• Ensure timely and appropriate patient disposition (admission, discharge, transfer)

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Cerner Powerchart (transitioning to Epic in June)

• Adhere to all hospital policies and emergency department protocols

• Participate in teaching opportunities with medical students and residents

• Stay current with the latest emergency medicine techniques and practices

Additional Information:

• Iowa state medical license required

• Comfortable working in a Trauma center environment

• Ability to adapt to existing workflow and collaborate with staff

• Experience with both Cerner Powerchart and Epic EHR systems preferred
