Job Description

 We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position at a Trauma Center in Texas. This opportunity offers 9 days of initial coverage starting 06/29/2025, with the potential for ongoing shifts (6+ per month) thereafter. The assignment involves working 24-hour, 36-hour, and 48-hour shifts in a hospital with an emergency department. The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric cases, and be proficient in all lifesaving procedures, including intubation. This role requires adaptability to work in a setting with limited specialist coverage and the ability to handle a wide range of emergency situations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide emergency medical care in a Trauma Center

• Manage a diverse patient population (20% pediatric, 25% geriatric)

• Perform all necessary lifesaving procedures, including intubation

• Work effectively in an environment with limited specialist coverage

• Utilize Athenahealth electronic medical record system

• Collaborate with on-site services including X-ray, lab, and OB

• Adapt to a fast-paced environment with potential for high-acuity cases

• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members

• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to hospital protocols


Additional Information:

• Texas medical license required

• Experience in a multi-specialty clinic setting is beneficial

• Comfort with working independently and making critical decisions quickly

• Ability to handle a variety of cases with limited on-site specialist support
