Job Description

Wellhart is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician for a locum tenens position in Connecticut. This 36-day assignment begins on July 7, 2025, at a multi-specialty clinic. The physician will work three clinic days per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional weekend and night call coverage. The role focuses on 80% hematology and 20% oncology cases, providing both inpatient consults and outpatient clinic services. Responsibilities include managing a diverse caseload of hematology and oncology patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical environment.

Schedule: 3 clinic days (M-F) 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, some weekends and night call (infrequent)


Job Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Provide hematology and oncology care, with an 80/20 split respectively
  • Conduct inpatient consults and manage outpatient clinic visits
  • Diagnose and treat various blood disorders and cancers
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans
  • Interpret laboratory results and imaging studies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Participate in tumor boards and case conferences as needed
  • Ensure proper documentation using Epic electronic medical record system
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Adhere to clinic protocols and best practices in hematology/oncology
  • Provide weekend and night call coverage as scheduled (2-3 weekends per year, 1:10 nights)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives


Additional Information:


  • Must be licensed to practice in Connecticut
  • Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system required
  • Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities essential
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to clinic needs and patient volume
