Job Description

Wellhart is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist for a locum tenens position at a healthcare facility in Maryland. This 24-day assignment begins on 06/02/2025, with potential for extension. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts (8am-8pm or 8pm-8am) 7 days a week. The physician will be responsible for providing coverage in multiple units. Key duties include managing newborn care, assisting with deliveries, responding to ED consults, and rounding on inpatient pediatric patients. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a wide range of pediatric cases and utilizing the Epic electronic health record system.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide 24/7 coverage of the Pediatric Department 

• Manage care in the well-baby nursery and assist with deliveries as needed 

• Respond to ED consults for pediatric patients 

• Conduct rounds on inpatient pediatric patients 

• Collaborate with the NICU team as required 

• Oversee care in the pediatric unit and pediatric after-hours unit 

• Perform newborn examinations and provide routine newborn care 

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions 

• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and specialists 

• Utilize Epic EHR for accurate and timely documentation 

• Stay current with the latest advancements in pediatric hospital medicine


Additional Information: 

• Experience in pediatric hospital medicine required 

• Comfort with managing newborns and assisting in deliveries 

• Familiarity with NICU environments preferred 

• Proficiency in Epic electronic health record system preferred 

• Maryland state medical license required  

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare team
