Nurse Practitioner - Vascular Surgery

Job Description

Wellhart is seeking a Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens position in New York. This 30-day assignment begins on August 1, 2025, at a multi-specialty clinic. The NP will work 10-12 hour shifts, typically from 7a-7p, 7a-5p, 9a-9p, or 7p/9p-7a, with 24/7 coverage required. Responsibilities include performing pre-op physical exams, suture removal, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting tests, assisting in surgery, writing prescriptions, coordinating care, rounding, and removing permcaths/CVCs. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with all aspects of vascular surgery patient care and be willing to cover various shifts and call schedules.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform pre-operative physical examinations
• Conduct suture removal and wound care
• Diagnose and treat vascular conditions and illnesses
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies
• Assist in vascular surgeries as needed
• Write prescriptions and manage medications
• Coordinate patient care with the healthcare team
• Conduct patient rounds and follow-ups
• Remove permcaths and central venous catheters (CVCs)
• Ensure proper documentation using Epic electronic medical record system
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Adhere to clinic protocols and best practices in vascular surgery
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed
• Provide on-call coverage as required, including weekends and overnight shifts

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York
• Certification in Vascular Surgery preferred
• Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system required
• Strong clinical skills and decision-making abilities essential
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to varying patient needs
• Willingness to cover all shifts/days and participate in call schedules
