Wellhart is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position at a multi-specialty clinic in Idaho. This opportunity offers 24 days of coverage, starting from 06/02/2025, with specific dates to be determined. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm. The surgeon will be responsible for performing a wide range of adult cardiac and general thoracic procedures, including CABG, heart valve repair/replacement, aortic dissection, thoracotomy lung resections, and ECMO placement. This role requires expertise in complex cardiothoracic surgeries, critical care management, and proficiency in using the Epic electronic health record system.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Perform adult cardiac surgeries, including CABG and heart valve repair/replacement 

• Conduct general thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy lung resections and pneumonectomy 

• Manage complex cases including aortic dissections and ECMO placement 

• Carry out tube thoracostomies and pericardial windows 

• Provide pre-operative assessments and post-operative care 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes 

• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation 

• Participate in on-call rotations as required 

• Stay current with the latest advancements in cardiothoracic surgery techniques 

• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Idaho 

• Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery required 

• Experience with both VA and VV ECMO placement preferred 

• Ability to manage high-acuity patients in critical care settings 

• Flexibility to work extended shifts as needed 

• Potential for assignment extension beyond initial dates
