Job Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Family Practice Physician for a locum tenens position at an Indian Health Service facility in Oklahoma. This 248-day assignment begins on June 30, 2025, with potential for extension. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing primary care cases, including chronic and acute illnesses, as well as urgent care cases. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a diverse healthcare setting, providing comprehensive care to the local community. Any state medical license will be accepted for this position.


Job Details: Location: Oklahoma

Facility Type: Indian Health Service 

Start Date: June 30, 2025 

LOA: 248 days (with potential for extension) 

Provider Type Needed: Family Practice Physician 

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm


Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Manage primary care cases, including chronic and acute illnesses 

• Handle urgent care cases, minor injuries, and illnesses 

• Treat respiratory conditions such as COVID-19, cold, and flu 

• Manage minor wounds, bruises, concussions, scrapes, and minor fractures 

• Perform splinting and suturing as needed 

• Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients 

• Refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchase Referred Care vendors within IHS guidelines 

• Proficiently document patient encounters using the electronic medical record system 

• Complete all required administrative paperwork within 24 hours of patient visits 

• Comply with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and administrative policies 

• Provide consultation to the Hospital Emergency Department as needed 

• Staff urgent care clinic when required
